Saffron Crocus
Crocus sativus, also known as Saffron Crocus, is so much more than just another cold-hardy bulb. Not only are its royal purple petals mesmerizing to look at, it also happens to be one of the world's most valuable spices! Its bright red stigmas are hand-harvested and dried to create saffron, and you can your own bountiful harvest in the fall, too!
Saffron Crocus is a fall bloomer. Plant your bulbs when you get them in the fall, and this plant will bloom the following year for weeks on end!
- LIGHT: Full sun; partial sun
- WATER: Water deeply and thoroughly when the soil dries.
- ZONE: Winter-hardy perennial; winter-hardy in zones 5-8
- SIZE: 3-6" tall
