Rattlesnake Master - Eryngium yuccifolium
Rattlesnake Master is one of our favorite natives. It has a totally western feel. Its sword-shaped leaves look just like Yucca foliage – it's right there in the name, after all! Rattlesnake Master puts out large flower stalks with thistle-like heads. They make GREAT dried flowers, too.
It's incredibly drought tolerant, and pollinators LOVE the flowers. Deers and rabbits? They can't stand Rattlesnake Master. The tough, thistly flowers and slightly jagged foliage are a no-go for would-be herbivores.
