Hoya paulshirleyi is one of those plants that makes us go, "who names these?" This rare Hoya was discovered on an expedition to Indonesia in 1994 by a nurseryman named Paul Shirley, hence its person-like name. These Hoyas feature medium-sized, green oval leaves with gorgeous clusters of pink-red flowers.
Hoya, more commonly known as wax plants, are a genus of well over 500 different plants. Most of them are either epiphytes or lithophytes, growing on other plants or surfaces. Because they don't typically grow in the ground, Hoya prefer a chunky, well-draining potting mix that doesn't retain water for too long. Keep your Hoya in a space indoors with plenty of bright sunlight and water when the potting mix is almost completely dry.
