Shasta daisies have a fabled history, having been developed by renowned horticulturist, Luther Burbank, who sought to breed a white daisy with massive flowers, sturdy stems, and an extended blooming period. This was achieved by crossing a total of FOUR different daisy species, with the name coming from the nearby Mount Shasta in California where these were bred.
With elegant flowers that emerge a striking lemon-yellow and mature to a bright white, it's no secret where the 'Banana Cream II' Shasta Daisy gets its delectable name from. These blooms are FLORIFEROUS, and this Leucanthemum profusely flowers from early to late summer, even stretching into early fall.
Its foliage provides the perfect backdrop for its bright blooms too. The leaves form a compact, tidy mound of serrated dark green leaves that make its flowers absolutely POP. 'Banana Cream II' is known for being an easygoing plant in the home garden too. It features disease-resistant foliage, and once established, this Shasta Daisy is able to tolerate moderate drought.
