Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Eclipse’

The first-ever black leaved Hydrangea. Its intensely dark purple foliage holds its rich color all season—even in warm climates—creating a striking contrast for its lush blooms. Depending on your soil, flowers range from vivid cranberry red with creamy centers to amethyst purple in more acidic conditions.

This mounded beauty matures to 3–5 feet tall and wide, making it perfect as a dramatic focal point in the garden, a showpiece in decorative containers, or a stand-out in mixed borders. Eclipse® sets abundant flower buds in fall, so avoid heavy pruning after mid-June to ensure maximum blooms the following summer.
