If you’ve ever wanted a plant in your garden that feels like it stepped straight out of a fantasy novel, meet ‘Bug Bat’—the carnivorous wonder of the bog world.

Believe it or not, these are super tough, hardy, perennials that will come back year after year!

Standing as tall as 16 inches, these hooded pitchers are living sculptures; red at the top, fading into fresh chartreuse green at the base, with delicate white speckles along the back. Each elegant pitcher is designed to lure in curious insects, which is how they receive their nutrients rather than from the soil, all while adding drama to your garden landscape.

Native to North America’s wetlands, these pitcher plants thrive in a peat or sphagnum moss heavy, constantly moist setup - think “mini bog” more than “typical flower bed.” Whether you plant it in a sun-drenched container on the patio or sink it into the garden in its own water-retaining pot (included with your order), it will happily reward you with yearly pitchers that are fun for everyone to observe.

Note that when you order a 'Bug Bat' - at pickup we will supply you with a planter and sphagnum moss that should be planted directly into the ground in order to keep their root system moist and happy!

Why we love it: It’s a conversation starter and pure botanical magic.
